Company Touring Program A: Nature Illuminated

A visually-stunning, sonically-rich experience of nature brought to the stage. Choreographer Jody Sperling and environmental composer Matthew Burtner, long-time collaborators, share works exploring the intimacy of trees, shifting winds, rising tides, and proliferating plastic. This program is accessible to audiences of all generations with family-friendly matinees and school shows available. Jody and the company offer multiple forms of community engagement including residencies, workshops, pop-up performances, talkbacks, and more.

Company Touring Program B: Loïe Fuller Illuminated

A sumptuous and riveting program that pays homage to the legacy of dance icon Loïe Fuller. An artistic visionary, Fuller was a founding mother of modern dance, an innovator of performance technology, a muse to such artistic movements as Art Nouveau, Futurism, and Cubism, and played an important role in the birth of cinema. Having furthered her legacy for almost three decades, choreographer and performer Jody Sperling is recognized as the world’s leading expert on Fuller’s dance style. In this magical program, Sperling and the Time Lapse Dance swirl in Fuller style and transport the audience into a timeless dimension of beauty.

SITE ACTIVATIONS

Solo/Duo Presentations

Jody Sperling offers solo performances and lecture-demonstrations. With composer Matthew Burtner, the two offer ecokinetics/ecoacoustics presentations that elucidate the ways creativity may entwine with natural systems. Repertory includes American Elm, Piece for a Northern Sky, and other works.
