Choreographer Jody Sperling has created more than 50 works—for stage, street, and screen—which weave together hypnotic spectacle (after the style of modern dance icon Loie Fuller) with a deep ecological consciousness. Since 2014, Sperling has been collaborating with composer Matthew Burtner to create a series of visually-stunning, sonically-compelling works for the Time Lapse Dance ensemble that illuminate the human body’s relationship with the natural world. Themes for their works have included melting ice, shifting winds, plastic proliferation, and tree ecology, and sea level rise.
