Choreographer Jody Sperling and her Time Lapse Dance (TLD) ensemble create visually-stunning, sonically-rich performances expressing the power, fragility, and startling beauty of nature. In collaboration with the New York Society for Ethical Culture, the company presents highlights of their Nature Illuminated touring program during the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) conference.

“a living, breathing work of art that illuminated the power of dance to connect us to the environment and to each other. Audiences were captivated, moved, and inspired. This is performance and the vibrancy of life at its most vital.”
— Moses T. Alexander Greene, North Carolina Museum of Art

This free performance features an illuminating demonstration of how transformative costuming may conjure naturalistic forms such as a forest grove, shifting clouds, and cresting waves. This program is accessible to audiences of all generations with family-friendly matinees and school shows available for booking.

Works featured include Sea Change, a poetic reimagining of our relationship with water in the wake of rising seas. The company also performers excerpts from Arbor, exploring the intimate entanglement of tree life, and Plastic Harvest, a romp about plastic proliferation. Music for all works composed by Sperling’s long-time collaborator Matthew Burtner. These works reveal, and revel in, the joyful truth of humanity's inseparability from the natural world.

Stay for the Q&A following the performance, where Sperling will share information about Time Lapse Dance touring and community engagement programs.
