Maki Kitahara

Maki Kitahara is an award-winning dancer and choreographer from Japan, who was nominated for The New Face Award by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan. Since moving to New York City in 2016, she has established herself as a versatile artist, after a successful launch performance at the Whitney Museum of American Art. She collaborates widely across film, installation, photography, and fashion, while remaining dedicated to cultural exchange and education. She has lectured at universities in the U.S. and Japan, served as faculty at dance studios in New York, assisted the Youth America Grand Prix, and organized her own workshops in Japan. In 2018, she joined Time Lapse Dance, where she originated many repertory roles and toured nationally and internationally. She is also one of the few certified MELT Method instructors from Japan, and uses MELT to blend artistry and wellness in her practice.
