Your contribution helps support our mission, our programs and our artists as we work toward activating audiences and mobilizing communities toward climate action.
WHY GIVE NOW?
Our work has never been as meaningful—or as threatened—as it is today. Time Lapse Dance creates live, activating experiences that bring people together in recognition of our shared humanity and common Earth. Our approach models community, harmony and peace through dance, providing a powerful and necessary antidote for these times.
Our year began with the U.S. government terminating a $30K award because of our program’s climate message. As the year progressed, cultural institutions that Time Lapse Dance has relied upon for financial support also began to struggle in the current political environment. It’s up to “we the people”—individuals like you and me—to keep artistic expression free and vibrant in this country.
Despite the challenges of 2025, we came out strong! We pulled off a three-city, six show tour of Egypt even though our federal funding was cut the day before we left. We’ve continued an Eco-Artist-Residency at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, offering abundant free programming with concerts, school shows, performances at public housing, and Inner Climate workshops. Our summer residency at The Yard on Martha’s Vineyard featured a pop-up performance, theater shows, and new work creation. We offered illumination-themed programs at the North Carolina Museum of Art and Yale University’s Center for Creative Arts and Media, free outdoor performances across NYC, virtual salons, and much more. In 2026, we’re thrilled to present our 25th Anniversary Season during Earth Week—stay tuned!
Any amount you give is greatly appreciated and will go towards artist fees, production and administrative costs of Time Lapse Dance.
Thank you for all your support, and for being in community with Time Lapse Dance! It matters. —Jody & Team TLD
WHAT OUR PARTNERS ARE SAYING
“Jody Sperling and Time Lapse Dance brought an unforgettable experience to the NC Museum of Art—where movement became a bridge between art, nature, and people. Her performance . . . wasn’t just a tribute to Loïe Fuller; it was a living, breathing work of art that illuminated the power of dance to connect us to the environment and to each other. Audiences were captivated, moved, and inspired. This is performance and the vibrancy of life at its most vital.”
—Moses T. Alexander Greene
Director of Performing Arts and Film, North Carolina Museum of Art
“I had been searching for a dance company that could engage the local Island community with a creative way to express climate change. Jody & Time Lapse Dance exceeded my expectations! Jody is a compassionate and intelligent artist, masterfully combining science with choreography and sheer beauty, to truly bring the emotions and senses into climate issues. . . . The entire residency was exceptional. The company was consistently professional, curious, and easygoing, making them a joy to work with. Jody Sperling is truly making a positive difference in the world, one residency at a time.”
—Yvonne Mendez, Programming Director, The Yard
“iDig2Learn is so grateful for our continued collaboration! Every experience working together reveals deeper meaning to the beloved pieces we know plus we feel so lucky to witness new works in development. Audience members feel like part of the process.”
—Christina Delfico, Idig2Learn
“North Brooklyn was absolutely thrilled to have Jody Sperling / Time Lapse Dance back for this year’s Car Free Earth Day . . . This year’s performance was mesmerizing. The dancer's movements transformed the street into a stage. As they glided through the open street, young children watched in awe, adults paused mid-conversation, and for a brief time, the everyday bustle of the city seemed to soften. The energy and artistry of the dancers are a true celebration of the environment and highlights the power of art to bring people together. Jody Sperling Time Lapse Dance continues to set the bar for what public performance can be.”
—Solveig Entwistle, North Brooklyn Open Streets Organizer
