Tea Dance Guidelines

Tea Dance Guidelines

Emily Faulkner and Jody Sperling have been hosting the Tea Dances for over a decade. Tea Dances are informal, family-friendly performances which take place in a Chelsea loft setting. Performances are given on Saturdays at 3pm and are followed by refreshments, namely tea and cookies.

We are currently accepting submissions for the spring and fall 2010 series. Works should be between 5-15 minutes. We encourage the sharing of works-in-progress, but finished works may also be presented. This is a "no-tech" situation with natural light serving as illumination. No video or projections available. The floor is a sprung maple. No shoes of any kind are allowed, nor are floor-scraping or floor-damaging props.

We encourage performance work in a variety of styles. Work must be appropriate to be viewed by young people. A small stipend will be given to selected choreographers.

The next Tea Dances are March 6, April 24 and June 5, 2010. Dates in October and November are TBD.

To apply to participate please complete the Tea Dance Application Form below before March 15, 2010 and email to info@timelapsedance.com.

Tea Dances are made possible in part with public funds from the Fund for Creative Communities, supported by the New York State Council on the Arts and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
